RE: [Harp-L] Night In Tunisia

This is Tunisa challenge is going a little too far IAMO. If this is
the route we want to take we should find a better track. The
aebersold is ok but the bass is way out of tune. If you want to get
technical the midi version is illegal too as the tune is not yet
public domain. - go to www.harryfox.com for more details

what's the point of the challenge anyway? To see if it can be played
on the harmonica? It can. And can be done so convicingly. Is it to
see if it sounds better on the diatonic or chromatic? It doesn't
mattter because they are to different instruments. Is this an issue
on whether or not YOU can play it? If you can, you can. Good job. I'm
sure most diatonic players can't so why make a fool of yourself? So
is this little challenge about who has the largest nut sack? If
that's the case am I pretty sure it is then I don't want to have
anything to do with this anymore? I have my own music to play and new
stuff to write to be bothered with such mortal trivialities.

If this is about actually getting help on how to play the song then
ask a question on or off list. The song is not hard to play if
you're a musician that understanda little theory and can legitimately
work your way through some simple ii-v changes. The song is not any
easier to play on the chromatic than it is on the diatonic. This is
about playing music my friends. If you want to do it on the diatonic
and you can't already then spend a few months in the woodshed working
on your inntonation and arpeggios. The tune works out best on a C,
G, A and Ab. Each harp has it's associated issues ie: the Ab harp
will force you to play in the equivilent of F# on a C harp. And once
you can play fluently in that position then you'll realize that you
can play in any position that means the song can be played in any
position on the diatonic. Thusly it comes down to a good intonation,
tone, "advanced" technique and musicality on the diatonic. Someone
tried to call me out by saying I under estimate the number of OB's.
I didn't undersetimate the number of legitimate - There are probably
less than 5 players in the world that could play tunisia on the
diatonic right now. I know three of them on this list. The other one
used to have a dog named Dazzle. The last player on my list is open
to debate but I know he doesn't drive a mercedes....

That's my 2 cent rant. No offense intended to anyone. Time to pay
hommage to the Bertholletia excelsa tree.
