[Harp-L] Playing in a band setting

If you've been listening that's a good start.
It sounds like you are probably ready to try it now.

How to do it.
1. Find a local jam where the folks are friendly.
2. Meet an experienced person and ask them for help.
3. Have them explain the different beats - shuffle, rhumba, swing, slow (12/8) blues, blues rock
Most blues jams will have a limited beat variation and an even more limited harmonic variation, which makes it much easier to get started.
4. Have fun learning this - you don't even have to know it to sound acceptable.
5. Give it a try, play less rather than more and use simple licks you already know.
6. Make some friends, put together a band ..........

OR, if you've got a friend or two already in a band ask if you can sit in on a couple of songs during rehearsal.

Have fun!

Ned
