My own take on this thread is that a weak musician that performs in public
is only badly reflecting upon himself.  i have been playing many years and
have sat in with great guitarists, drummers, horn players, keyboard players,
etc. and equally bad ones.  i never felt that a bad musician reflected on
the quality of his instrument of choice, only the quality of his own pride,
professionalism and ability to play.
