"Yikes;" was Ramblin' On My Mind

If you wanna be a player, you gotta roll with the lingo...

But seriously, folk...If you're really a little upset with Freddie's
word-choices, I'd point out that in telling that story I didn't mean to offend you--or
anyone. But there's a serious point here. Many of us view people like
Freddie King, or the Sonny Boys, or Muddy Waters--who once made a comment about
Paul Butterfield's harp playing as it might relate to certain sexual practices
that makes the Freddie King anecdote seem like a Mister Rogers segment--as our
true creative forefathers. They are artists in the same way that Hemingway or
Fellini or William Blake or (insert Favorite Artist's Name here) are. But
there's one giant difference: hardly anyone writes books about them. (Until
recently, no-one did.) So just as a writer or painter or film-maker will study
the LIFE as well as the WORK of their "fathers," we too want to learn whatever
we can of the men who opened up their souls to give it to us. But the library
pickin's are slim, Doc, so we piece together whatever we can from their
bandmates, friends, enemies, parole officers, children...it takes a funky village,
so to speak. Hope that explains the importance of keeping the wording just as
it was...Besides--is "wine steward" really that offensive to you?
