Re: Fw: Enquiry/Shaker Dynamic mic

I've used a Shaker Dynamic for about three years, and I've had both
XLR and 1/4" models in the dynamic, and I've had the Crystal.

Get the dynamic with the XLR connector.

I use a garden variety XLR to 1/4" 20 foot cord that (to my knowledge)
has no impedance matching. Works great. I assume it's a normal XLR to
1/4" mic cord because that's what I always ask for :-). From what you
say above, it's low impedance.

I've used a normal 20 foor XLR mic cable with an impedance matching
transformer a couple of times but didn't notice enough difference to
bother running like that--the XLR/1/4" adaptor kinda makes it a
minor hassle to plug into the RP-300 I use--too much unbendable length
as the plug comes out of the jack.

The 1/4" model had decent tone but wasn't near as "hot", and the
Crystal I gave away (far too trebly and clean for my tastes--some
might like it for country but I prefer a warmer, fuller sound).

In any case--I love the mic...I have two. And I've always received
good service from the folks at Shaker.

Your mileage may vary. No affiliation with Shaker except as a
very satisfied customer, etc.

Mind you--Shaker is (according to the website) within days of
announcing a new model harp mic, and I'm very interested...
