Have you ever tried in-the ear monitors? They cost more than standard
stage monitors at first but they eliminate all sorts of issues on stage like
feedback and rumble. They also allow each member of the group to adjust
prefered volume. Shure makes both wired and unwired systems that can grow as
your budget grows. They also eliminate the need for that big ol' power amp.
Check out http://www.shure.com/earphones/index.asp . I have no affiliation
other than as a satisfied customer.
