Daily Almanac - May 8

Blues legend Robert Johnson was born on this day in 1912. Though he was
best known as a guitarist, friends of Johnson recall that he was good enough
on the harmonica to make a living by playing the harmonica for hand-outs
when he didn't have a guitar.

Italian Jazz guitar and harmonica player Bruno DeFillipi was born on this
day in 1930. DeFillipi made his fame as a jazz guitarist, later picking up
the harmonica. He's recorded several great CD's of harmonica music for the
Giants of Jazz label.

Blues harmonica player Phil Wiggins was born on this day in 1954. Wiggins
has recorded several albums with his partner, guitarist John Cephas and the
two specialize in playing the piedmont style of acoustic blues.

That's all I have for today. Have fun and practice.
