Birthday today

(copied from another blues list - BOSS of Florida)

"On this 24th day of March in 1946 harmonica player Lee Oskar was born in
Copenhagen, Denmark. Lee Oskar is a well known name to harmonica
players. Oskar is known not only through his tenure as a member of the
Rock group War and his solo albums, but especially for his line of
harmonicas. Lee Oskar harps revolutionized the way harmonicas were made,
packaged and sold. Oskar created harmonicas that could easily be
repaired and maintained, and produced them in various tunings, giving
the diatonic (ten-hole) harmonica considerably more versatility. Oskar`s
albums are in a pop-Jazz, Fusion style, although he can, and
occasionally does, play Blues. harmonica fans should check out "The Best
Of Lee Oskar" on Rhino."

Lee is another player that deserves wider recognition for his playing. He was
a major influence after hearing the 2 extended solos on the double album
"Live War". This is Lee's basic playing at its best, before he began using
special tuned harmonicas. This recording also shows War to be the funky
ensemble playing groove band that could hypnotize an audience.
