RE: blues organ players

I played with a short-lived Soul Jazz band a couple of years ago. You
know the sort of thing that I mean. Jimmy Smith, Lou Donaldson plus a
couple of Cleanhead Vinson tunes.

The line up was
Bass
Funky Drummer
Guitar
Hammond
Tenor Sax
Harp

IMHO it worked really well. Everyone was cool and spend some time not
playing. I has a lot more trouble with the sax than the keys. Pity we
were all too busy to commit.

BTW I'm a bluesman not jazz guy.

Cheers
Ken

I love playing blues organ music, but every time I've added harp it
doesn't
fit right. Harp seems to like more percussive keyboard-piano, clav. It
can
be done, I know Muddy Waters had organ on some of his cuts, but on the
whole
the organ and the harp cancel each other out.
