An astatic blues CD that packs a lot of power. Only one recent release with
touchable rhythm power comes to mind.... the recent Roomful of Blues. If
your looking for that 1-4-5 straight forward CD that reinvents the wheel,
you best look somewhere else. This CD has some fantastic horn work, good
vocals and is an all around good CD! Michael is known in the scene as being
the "real deal" and my little experience and contact with him confirms,
though he has a lot of humor - he's as serious as a cat that just walked in
the middle of a dog fight. Michael and his rhythm section expresses cinnceir
conviction with a lineup of featured artists that would be an inspiration to
any band on the west-coast (or any cost for that matter). And he's as much
of a professional harmonica player as a sax-man, this guy blows! Michaels
been a sideman for many years, but here he lets it all go! With slight
comparison to Delbert McClinton, Roomful of Blues and the Texas Horns, this
CD is certainly on my small list of 5 STAR cd's. There is no doubt why this
CD has turned some heads and opened some eyes, it convinced me.
