I am currently reading a very interesting book by Alan Lomax called "The
Land Where The Blues Began". I've only read the intro and first chapter and
am totally hooked. Alan brings you right there with him, starting in 1942,
as he tries to record blues musicians right on the plantations of
Mississippi. The obstacles he runs into with Jim Crow laws in those days
rivals South Africa's Apartied system.
