Blues singer, guitar and harmonica player Mississippi John Hurt was born on
this day in 1893.  Hurt began playing music for money around the age of
twelve.  He recorded several records during the 1920's then returned to
farming until he was re-discovered in the 1960's.

Blues singer, guitar and harmonica player Hans Olson was born on this day in
1952.  Hans has been playing professionally since he was fifteen and is a
fixture on the Phoenix, Arizona music scene as well as doing soundtrack
music for the TV series, Evening Shade.

Country singer-songwriter, guitar and harmonica player Aaron Tippin was born
on this day in 1958.  Tippin began recording for the RCA label in the early
1990's and has released several albums of his music.

Blues harmonica player Annie Raines was born on this day in 1969.  Raines
has been a regular in the Boston music scene since she was eighteen and has
spent the last several years performing and recording with Blues guitarist
Paul Rishell.

Rock guitar and harmonica player Brian Jones died on this day in 1969.
Jones was one of the founders of the band, the Rolling Stones and his
harmonica playing can be heard on many of the group's early recordings.

Actor Jimmy Stewart died on this day in 1997.   Stewart learned to play the
harmonica for his role in the 1941 movie "Pot O Gold".  he continued to take
lessons on the instrument from Jerry Adler after the movie was completed.
