Re: the passing of Richard Newell



(I tried to send this a couple of days ago but apparently 
used the wrong harp-l address).

Those raw, vigorous recordings that Richard Newell did 
with Crowbar are real classics.  There's nothing quite 
like them.  I can't describe the excitement I felt the first 
time I put "Good'uns" on the turntable and heard that 
dirty, powerful harp.  I re-capture some of that feeling 
every time I listen again, as I do from time to time .  .  .

I met Richard Newell once about ten years ago, which 
resulted in a short poem - if any of you are interested in 
such things, contact me off-list and I'll send it to you - 
it might give you a smile.
