Yes the 57 is low impedance.  Yes I plugged it into one of those $20.00 
adapters (mine was $5 used) and then went straight into the amp.  
Nowadays I'd go straight into my Alesis without the adapter to high 
impedance.  As Hugh has already mentioned they're light and easy to hold 
with a wide palette of available tones.  FJM
