Re: Shaker Mic

I have both a Bullet and a Shaker. There is a definite difference in tone
between the two - as described, the Shaker has less bass and more
treble. Both are useful for different styles. I typically find that the Shaker
feeds back less than the Bullet in the sense that I can turn the amp up to
a higher setting (if 6 feeds back for the Bullet, 8 or 9 for the Shaker).
Since the Shaker isn't as "hot", there isn't much diference in volume
where feedback occurs as far as I can tell. The Shaker wins the
portability competition, but I suspect the relatively small plastic enclosure
is partially responsible for the "thinner" and reedier tone. I'll admit that I
play my Bullet a lot more. The Shaker isn't designed to be serviced, but it
would be interesting to hear a Shaker element in a Bullet or Astatic
housing - is the tone still as trebly? Maybe someone has done it - and if
so, they're probably on this list!
