I'm up for it, I am just techno blind when it comes to music. I've been a
musician for 20+ years and a computer professional for 12+ years, but for
the life of me don't know how to make a .wav! I maintain a sharply divided
personality, and keep my music as acoustic as possible.

Right now the only machine I could use to sample stuff is my poor, abused
Mac PowerBook 170. I have 8Mb RAM and about 120Mb of spare disk. If that
isn't enough, Tom Barker (fellow Huntsvillian harpl-er) has a Mac Performa
and a comprehensive home studio I'm sure he'd let me play with.

What do I need to do to either play live in to my Mac or sample some
external source (tape or CD) and produce a .wav or .au file? i.e. hardware
and software.

If we're talking about just small segments of acoustic harp playing, I'd
rather do it direct to disk, I think. But I also have some live recordings
of my band I'd like to sample snippets of.
