Little Village records is a nice, friendly shop with a lot of blues and
jazz. They stock a lot of older vinyl, as well as blues and jazz CD's.
They're very good about supporting local talent, too. If it's blues and
in print, they'll find it.

Their name is all the more amusing becaused of their former location on
Tujunga Avenue in "Toluca Village", one of those cute little neighborhood
names no one but the locals know about. (They moved about a year ago to
Ventura Blvd in Studio City.) Also, their former location was "little",
maybe 1000 square feet, so they were quite literally "Little village
Records". Their new shop is considerably larger.

They have a nice performance stage, complete with a couple of "permanent"
amps, and I believe a house drum kit. It's not at all uncommon to find
some pretty impressive jam sessions going on there (after all, this IS
"Hollywood"; or close enough :-) One evening, after William Clarke had
finished a promotional appearance for his new CD (which I didn't know
about - Bill is one of my favorites) and had packed up and left, I stopped
by. His bass player and drummer, another guitarist, Bob the owner on
vocals (he also plays bass), and myself (harp and guitar) had a nice
couple-hour jam session, until closing time. (I frequently keep my
guitar, harp, rack, pedal case, and Fender champ in the trunk, "just in
case" :-)

Bob is always open to jamming, so if you're in the area, drag along your
harp(s).

I have no interest in LVR other than being a happy customer and wanting
to support those who support blues, jazz, and harmonica music.
