I think the "Elvis Syndrome" doesn't apply to the Stevie Ray vs. Albert
King comparison.  While Stevie was influenced greatly by Albert King,
Stevie played all the Hendrix rock stuff, and Albert didn't do that thang.
I think that had a lot to do w/Stevie crossing over into the rock
audiences.  Besides, Stevie did more to get original blues artists
recognition than Billy Branch could ever do... esp. with that attitude!

Also interesting to note that it was possibly the Hendrix stuff that
really got Stevie over to more people... and Jimi was a pretty popular
black artist... had he lived into the 90's, I think he'd have been a mutha.

P.S. - Sorry to dig into an old subject... I've been out of town.
(Actually, I was in LA for a few days and caught James Harman at Jack's
Sugar Shack.  What a show.  Now this is a harp post.)  :-)
