Jensen date codes

Jensen's speaker code is 220. Look for a number on the back of the
speaker that starts with a 220 the next digit is the date code. That
number indicates the year of manufacture. The problem with this is you
don't know the decade. the last 2 digits are the week the speaker was
manufactured. 220301 would be either 1953 or 1963 first week of the
year. Alnico is the magnet material. They also made some mighty fine
ceramic magnet speakers in the early 60's. Some other common amp speaker
codes are 67 Emminence, 328 Utah, 391 Altec-Lansing, 465 Oxford.
Jensen's were labled according to their grade. P12R ios a very common
Jensen speaker designation. The P satands for alnico, the 12 is 12" the
speaker size and the R is the grade. The most common guitar amp Jensen's
are almost all from the Concert series. They came in N,P,Q, and R
grade. N being the lowest and R being the highest. the Concert series
was available in 8,10,12,and 15". FJM
