The only JT30 I've seen that gets played regularly has vestigal paint at 
best.  The volume control's been replaced.  The connector fell for the 
cord fell out.  If you want reliability get a Shure.  The only bad thing 
they do is   break the cord at the microphone end where it goes into the 
body.  This is easily fixed by adding a 1/4 inch connector to the body 
and the cord.  you drop em they keep working.  They're like rocks only 
heavier.  FJM
