Harmonigopher FAQ

TO: internet:harp-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I recently visited the Harmonigopher for the first time. What's
there is a promising beginning, but one thing that seemed missing
- and which has been mentioned or requested from time to time -
is a section with answers to Frequently Asked Questions about the
harmonica.

We can build a Harmonica FAQ co-operatively on this list.

While it's true that Jack Ely's technique treatise and the
discography are both helpful, there is much more information that
should be included, and it should be organized in a
question-and-answer format, with questions organized by category.

Here are some major categories:

HARMONICA TYPES

PLAYING TECHNIQUES

PLAYING STYLES

ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

ARTISTS AND RECORDS

HARMONICA HISTORY

PRODUCT SOURCES

in each category, the most basic and frequent newbie questions
could be addressed first, followed by more sophisticated stuff.

Can list members come up with common, newbie-type questions in
these categories? If so, post them.

Can list members see ways to consolidate these categories
logically so as to reduce their number, perhaps tucking one
inside another without burying the most important stuff down too
many levels?

Can list members see important MAIN categories that have been
left out?

Feel free to post ideas, contributions and responses. This forum
is an excellent medium for this project, and the members are more
than equal to the task.
