Re: amp mics

My advice to you is use the best vocal mic possible. You want to
reproduce all that comes out of your speaker. That's why line-out isn't used
much. Without any mods, most line-out circuits do not have the same signal
characteristics as the speakers. Put the mic about 1/4"-1/2" away from the
grill cloth and on the side of the cone a little. Don't place it in the
center of the cone(More sound at the sides). You may find a little better
sound from one side of the speaker or the other(or top or bottom). And YES,
this is the best way. Another thing some people do is buy their own vocal
mic/stand/cord. That way you always got one. Someone that doesn't like harp
players(at a jam) might tell you, "No we need that mic cause the drummer
might do a song later.", and if you have your own..................

PS Just wait till you mic up and old Champ or something into a 800 Watt clean
PA. Blow the doors off for blocks around....and what a feeling!

I hope this helps. Everybody has their own 'druthers.
